Mary Pietrucha

Mary Pietrucha has served on the Library Board since 2022 and is currently the Board Secretary. Her passion for libraries began at an early age. She worked as a page at her local library during high school, and as a circulation assistant while earning degrees in both Art History and French at Indiana University. She went on to a career in marketing and product development, with more than a decade of experience focused specifically on electronic educational toys and software for toddlers and preschoolers. It was this love of helping children learn through play that inspired her to join the Library Board of Trustees.

She has lived in Skokie for five years and loves meeting people in the community and hearing their stories. Mary says: “It’s through this sense of connectedness that we can ensure the library is forward-thinking in its approach and is evolving as our community’s needs change.” She wants to make sure everyone knows about the library’s creative spaces like the Studio and BOOMbox, and that it also provides critical services such as voter information, job seeker assistance, and ESL/ELL programs.

She and her husband enjoy dining out in Skokie, and she also likes staying active with her dog, Indy. Mary is an avid user of the library’s DVD/Blu-ray collection and binge-watches classic films that are hard to find on streaming services. She also checks out thrillers and memoirs to read and to listen to on her commute.
