We offer a variety of programs and events for older adults. We also serve as a source for information and referral and will help you navigate the sometimes difficult challenges of aging.

Homebound Delivery
Are you a Skokie resident who is unable to come to the library due to a permanent or temporary disability? We can provide free delivery of books, audiobooks, and DVDs to your home on a regular basis. Foreign language materials are also available. Participants will receive a Skokie Public Library card and have all access to all library resources. Call 847-324-3116 to register. Staff and volunteers will help select and deliver library materials to your door every four weeks.
Talking Books
A monthly book discussion group for, but not limited to, people with visual impairments. We meet on the third Wednesday of every month from 1:30–2:30 pm. We read/listen to both fiction and nonfiction books. Anyone is welcome.
Books in digital format are supplied by the Illinois State Library Talking Book and Braille Service. Call 847-324-3185 for more information about signing up for this service.
LOW VISION SUPPORT GROUP
A monthly group for people with visual impairments and their family members. We meet on the second Tuesday of every month from 1:30-2:30 pm to discuss current research, assistive devices, and community resources.
Assistance from State Government
Representatives from the offices of elected officials are at the library the second Tuesday of every month from 4-6 pm. They can answer questions about state programs and services. No appointment necessary.
