Make Your Own Digital Holiday Gifts at the Library
December 14, 2014
If you are wondering about what to do about giving this holiday season, try making a digital gift in our Digital Media Lab (DML). Stop by the Tech Desk on the 2nd floor to book your spot.
Tell your family how you feel with a song
If you have some musical talent (or your family appreciates your off pitch singing), we have microphones, instruments, and software for you. We have a MIDI keyboard, electric guitar (yes, shredding is allowed in the library), and an electronic drum set. Our microphones have pop filters. We have basic and more advanced models.
If you're feeling shy about belting tunes in the library, use your SPL library card to check out a Nessie Microphone to take home and record high quality audio.
Make them smile with a movie
If you have some experience with making movies, maybe you want to make a crazy, fun holiday video. Use our green wall in the DML (or use the portable one) to transport yourself to any time or place. Maybe you need to make an appearance in an old home movie, or pictures of holidays gone by. Speaking of which ...
Preserve old videos and pictures
If you have old family videos still stored on VHS tapes (that your family cannot watch because VHS tapes) why not come in and use the DML to digitize all of them. We have equipment to capture the video then burn them on a DVD or save them in the cloud for easier access on all of your devices (and make your family happy too).
We also have a scanner that can handle old photos and slides. Once you have scanned your images, you can use our editing software to make a slideshow for everyone to enjoy.
What's next?
If you're ready to start creating and giving, stop by the 2nd floor Information Desk to book your spot. We also have a DML for kids (grades 1-8) in case they are interested in creating a video or audio project or a drawing as a gift.
Good luck!
