Local Author Showcase: Karen Kaplan
March 12, 2015
Local author Karen Kaplan will be here on Monday, March 16, to discuss her book, Descendants of Rajgród: Learning To Forgive, and sign copies. We asked her how she got her start and she told us:
"I never set out to be a writer. When my father's health was deteriorating, I began to research his past and journal memories of my childhood. I wrote and delivered a eulogy at his funeral which became the basis of my memoir. Those who are unhappy often continue to search for ways to become less angry, bitter or depressed and simply desire to live whole and productive lives. My memoir, Descendants of Rajgród: Learning To Forgive, offers hope to those who have suffered a lifetime of holding on to the painful memories of the past."
My memoir ... offers hope to those who have suffered a lifetime of holding on to the painful memories of the past.
We also asked her about the last book she read, and she said The Light in the Ruins by Chris Bohjalian. It is riveting--an historical fiction novel filled with mystery, love, hatred and revenge.”
If you want to hear more from Karen you can watch her recent interview on WGN and register to attend our upcoming local author showcase featuring Karen at the library.
