Free Lunches for Kids

We are partnering with the Greater Chicago Food Depository to provide free summer lunches for kids 18 years and younger.

Meals will be offered at the library12:15-1 pm Mondays through Fridays, starting Monday, June 9, and ending Friday, August 15. There are no meals on Thursday, June 19, or Friday, July 4. Meals must be eaten at the library and will be served in the Café and South Courtyard (weather permitting).

We are just one of the organizations working to reduce food insecurity in our community. Older adults can learn more about Meals on Wheels. Niles-Maine District Library also provides a free lunch service on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

If you'd like to check whether you are eligible for the State of Illinois Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), use the ABE (Application for Benefits Eligibility) tool. The Summer EBT program is also available to families with school-aged children so they can purchase groceries during the summer. Once you have determined your eligibility, the Village of Skokie Human Services Department can help you apply for SNAP and provide more information about local resources.
