Beanstack is Here!
October 26, 2015
Hi, I’m Shelley Sutherland, the Youth Services Manager at Skokie Public Library. I’m so excited about our newest offering for families with kids—Beanstack.
Beanstack is a free online kids book recommendation site for kids that was first seen on the TV show Shark Tank, and we've recently launched it for our patrons here at the Skokie Public Library. All you have to do is provide a brief profile of your child that includes age, reading level, and interests. Each week, Beanstack will send you a personalized email with a book suggestion and a learning tip for that book. The email will link directly to the Skokie catalog so you can put the book on hold right away. You can also:
- Track your child’s reading (think Goodreads for kids) and they can earn digital badges
- Explore theme guides that include activities, books, apps, and media on subjects like “Exploring Egypt” and “Say No to Bullying”
- Search the database for books using a variety of tags such as “adoption,” “generosity,” “daring to be different,” and get lots of results
- Search a database of recommended apps for your kids
Beanstack is free, your information is kept private, and it takes just a moment to get started. Register now at skokielibrary.beanstack.org.
