Explore coffee's long, storied history and learn how to make the perfect cup. This first of a two-part series focuses on immersion as a technique to achieve the perfect cup.

If you've ever used a French press, siphon, Aeropress, or sipped some cold brew or Turkish coffee, you already have experience with immersion coffee. We'll cover what you need to start, what immersion means when it comes to coffee, and walk through particulars like grind-size and ratio of coffee to water. We'll wrap up with some relevant book and film recommendations.

Whether you're intrigued by coffee's past, are a daily drinker who has never given much thought to your morning cup of Joe, or a seasoned fanatic who is pursuing the perfect cup, you will enjoy this first part of our java journey.
