Alita: Battle Angel
2019Get this itemThis movie is based on the Japanese manga, which I happily read from start to finish. Whether you decide to watch the movie or read the manga, by the end you’ll end up loving the main character Alita just as much as I did. Recommended by Kirk.

Upgrade
2018Get this itemThis movie pleasantly surprised me with various plot twists. Viewers will enjoy the witty banter between the main character, Grey Trace, and his STEM implant. The camera work during the fight scenes is some of the best I've seen in a long time. Recommended by Kirk.

Ready Player One
2018Get this itemThe movie is set in post-apocalyptic 2045, mostly inside a virtual reality world known as Oasis, where people find distraction from present-day misery. Spielberg's cinematic version shows he is a big fan, having a great time bringing this to the screen. Recommended by Sharon.

Neuromancer
2000 by Gibson, WilliamGet this itemWithout this book, we would most likely never see amazing cyberpunk movies like Blade Runner, Akira, or The Matrix. On top of that, the terms “cyberspace” and “matrix” never would exist in the cyberpunk genre. A fantastic book that truly influenced an entire genre. So thank you, William Gibson. Recommended by Kirk.

Ghost in the Shell
2017Get this itemI originally watched the anime, which has fantastic action. The movie follows the same formula, with amazing action sequences. If you’re interested in cybernetics and body modification, this movie is for you. Recommended by Kirk.

Akira (Blu-ray)
2013Get this itemAkira is one of the greatest animated movies of all time. Based off of the Japanese manga, it is truly a masterpiece in animation and storytelling. If you have a favorite animated cartoon or music video, you’ll probably notice some influences from this movie. Recommended by Kirk.

Blade Runner 2049
2018Get this itemThis is a great cyberpunk film, and the good news is that you don’t necessarily have to watch the original Blade Runner movie from 1982 to enjoy it. However, it wouldn’t hurt to watch as much Blade Runner as possible. Recommended by Kirk.
-
Dredd
2013Get this itemIn a dystopian future, America is a wasteland. The only order comes from "Judges" who have the power of judge, jury, and executioner. Dredd, the most feared of these Judges, and his apprentice join forces to take down a gang that deals a reality-altering drug. This is gritty and trippy. Karl Urban stars in the lead role, and he nails it! Recommended by Sharon.

The Matrix
1999Get this itemYou can watch this movie over and over again. There are so many themes and hidden messages that speak so much truth in the world we live in today. I guarantee each time you watch, you’ll find something new to learn. Or you can just stick around for the stunning choreographed fight scenes. It still holds up as a great cyberpunk film two decades after its release. Recommended by Kirk.
