Self Portraits in the Style of Children's Books

By Amy Holcomb

What would you look like if you suddenly appeared in your favorite children's book? Students from Niles North High School’s AP Studio Art and AP 2D Design classes visited the library, chose books with an illustration style they liked, then created a self portrait in the style of that artist as if they were now in the book. It was a lot of fun!

  • We Are Definitely Human: A Book

    2024 by Fang, X.

From the publisher: "When three mysterious visitors from "Europe" crash-land in Mr. Li's field, he does what any good host would: he invites them back to his farmhouse and offers to help fix up their "car." No, there's nothing strange about these guests at all. Just like other humans, they "make business," "play sportsball," and "wear hat." As the townsfolk also come to the aid of the visitors and the gathering turns into a little party, interplanetary relations reach an all-time high."

But it's become harder to travel to Japan now that she's living across the world in New York. Unsure of when she can return next to see her yokai friends, Eka tries to forget that this could be her last parade for some time.
